When Roger Stevens moved
to Staplecroft he was amazed to find a
wealth of musical talent living in that sleepy village tucked away
in a corner of the rolling hills of the Romney Marshes. And when, at
a Neighbourhood Watch meeting, he suggested to the musicians present
that they learn a few songs and put on a concert at the village hall
he was both amazed and delighted when they agreed. He got busy
writing, rehearsals began and here is the result. With Vicky Most,
retired Primary School teacher and church organist on keyboards,
Dave Gilbert, late of The Punk Floyd tribute band, on lead guitar,
herbalist Winston Smith on bass guitar and George Singer (aged 9) on
drums – Wonky Finger’s first and last public performance has been
captured here for you and for posterity - a veritable smorgasbord of
and rock and roll.
Alternatively – When
Roger moved to Staplecroft he bought a
little electronic box-type thing and a mini-mixer which meant he
could record music onto his PC and his wife said of his first
efforts – That sounds like it was recorded in a village hall! She
also asked – What’s wrong with your finger? and
he said, I dunno it’s gone a bit wonky.
And thus this album and the band was
conceived. Roger then asked James Follett from Eastbourne,
to
contribute the lead guitar and the rest, as they say, is geography.
