Paradise Mislaid

As humankind destroys the planet

My thoughts turn frequently to Janet

As rainforests are stripped and land laid bare

I think of Janet in her underwear

As acid rain falls from the sky above

I think of me and Janet making love

What chance has humankind of saving this fair planet?

About the same as I have ever making it with Janet

(Actually her name isn’t Janet

but Jenny doesn’t rhyme with planet)

The Journal Of Danny Chaucer (poet)

by Roger Stevens

Publisher: Orion Children's Books

ISBN: 1842550586

An amazing year awaits Danny Chaucer (poet). A new guitar, a new band, a new girlfriend and a hit record. In Danny’s dreams...

This should find fans even among children who never usually read poetry for fun. Danny is a 16-year-old aspiring rock star who charts the highs and lows of his school year: unrequited love; enduring embarrassment; sudden joy in the acquisition of a new guitar and a girlfriend. In doing so, Danny proves, with aplomb that there is, after all, a whole world to explore beyond that of Harry Potter.

- Daily Telegraph

Danny Chaucer’s journal recounts a school year of love, loss, music and adolescent angst. Perceptive and very funny, talented performance poet Stevens explores the mind of the teenage male.

Danny's life, his hopes, his fantasies and their fulfilment, are presented through poetry and song lyrics. It is witty, raw, razor-edged and I liked it.
